By the time you read this, we will be about to dive into our 3-day filming period for the production of ‘The Hidden Tales of Hunter Inkwell’. It has been many months in the making, with a few spluttering stops and starts due to lockdowns and other interruptions. The last five days have been an intense mix of rehearsals, choreography, vocal recording, prop-making, set construction and costume fittings. Now it all comes together.
Please enjoy this behind-the-scenes gallery of pictures, highlighting the efforts and the excitement of production week.
The final filmed performance will be shown on a big screen on the Minimbah Oval on the evening of Friday 3 December. We can’t wait to see you there!
Although our production occupies a lot of our time and thoughts, we need to keep other vital events in our sights. Below is a summary of what we are looking forward to as we hurtle towards our final day in Year 6…
Another event that has been delayed throughout the year is our TEP Talks, but we are delighted to present this series of speeches during Week 8. Parents will be able to attend their child’s performance on-site (after checking in at the front office) or via Zoom. We will let you know the exact time of each speech very soon (if we haven’t already).
YEAR 6 DINNER
We have an enthusiastic team of parents working on bringing this night to life on Friday 26th November. The Year 6 students have voted on a ‘formal black-tie’ theme, with the potential for some Spanish cuisine. Students are free to interpret this theme creatively when deciding on their attire, and in the interests of sustainability, we encourage op-shopping!
YEAR 7 TRANSITION
For those who are continuing at Woodleigh for Year 7 next year, there will be a Year 7 Transition morning on Monday 6 December at the Senior Campus. Students will need to make their way there; however, they will catch a bus back to Minimbah with us at around noon. For those students attending other schools next year, please arrange to meet us back at Minimbah at 12.30 pm for the remainder of the day.
The Year 6 Graduation is probably the most formal event students will attend during their time at Minimbah. The ceremony will be held at our Senior Campus on the evening of Tuesday 7th December. Students are currently working on their graduation speeches and special performances for the evening.
FINAL ASSEMBLY / POOL JUMP
Friday 10 December is our last day of school, and Year Six have the honour of leading the assembly, which is a reflection/spoof/celebration of their final year of primary school. The last event of the day is an excellent Minimbah tradition. Led by Mark Roden and watched by the rest of the school, the Year Sixers jump into the pool, fully clothed in their school uniform.
Secret present buying and giving is always a fun part of our last week at school together. We will host the Kris Kringle on Thursday 9 December. Students will find out who they are buying for in Week 9, and there will be a limit of $10 for the purchase of gifts.
Further details will be communicated via email as each of these special events is approaching.
Thank you for your continued support throughout this hectic time. We look forward to seeing you all in person at these important upcoming events, which mark the end of primary school for our Year 6 students.
