2024 LEAD Survey Results and Next Steps

Dear Woodleigh Families,

Last August, the school conducted our most recent LEAD survey, following previous surveys in 2019 and 2021. LEAD surveys are a powerful tool used by many schools to measure effectiveness and provide us with valuable insights from students, parents and teachers that benchmark us against other independent schools.

The survey results let us evaluate Woodleigh’s performance in ways that matter to our community and guide us towards meaningful classroom and community improvements.

Key Findings

We are pleased to share that the results of our 2024 survey were overwhelmingly positive:

  • Woodleigh School consistently exceeds expectations, with students and parents expressing satisfaction with the school’s academic programs, student development, and overall experience.
  • A significant majority of 2024 Year 12 students successfully moved to the next step in their tertiary education and careers, with 90%+ securing their first or second choice for tertiary education or career pathways.
  • We continue to redefine success by celebrating the diverse achievements of our students across both academic and non-traditional pathways.

Areas of Focus

The feedback also highlighted areas for improvement:

  • Perceptions around discipline and safety.
  • A need to strengthen our alumni involvement.
  • Prioritising the improvement of peer relationships among students.

Next Steps

Following the feedback process, we plan to:

  • Enhance our communication strategies and platforms for practical day-to-day purposes, sharing more insights and stories from within the school.
  • Create more opportunities for alums to stay connected and engaged with the school, encouraging them to reconnect and participate in school life.
  • Improve communication with families and students about our restorative practices processes, ensuring a clear understanding of our approach to discipline and behaviour management.
  • Continue to cultivate a supportive and positive school culture.

It has been very reassuring to see the overall satisfaction among students and parents continue our 2019 and 2021 results to remain above our benchmarked levels. Still, we recognise those areas highlighted as opportunities for growth require ongoing effort. I hugely appreciate your continued involvement and support as we partner toward making Woodleigh an even better place for your child’s education and development.

Kind regards,

David Baker – Principal
