Around the Grounds

Happy Friday, everyone
Next week marks the final week of the 2025 school year. Bring on the summer holidays!
To Know: This year's Woodleigh Prize winner is Char Palmer. As Char said: ‘The last 12 years have given us skills and knowledge, but more importantly, a sense of who we are and who we want to be.'
To Read: So many things this week, including the Year 10 Futures Project Exhibition wrap-up, 'Not all Smooth Sailing' by Co-Head of RFP, Michelle Pitcher.
To Attend: Nothing!
Perberkoong
Three campuses, three goats, a camel and a donkey. What could go wrong? Nothing - apart from the horrid weather moving the celebration from the Bush Chapel to the Hall. Perberkoong is a Bunurong/Boon Wurrung word meaning ‘come together’, which perfectly reflects the spirit of the event: bringing together families, students and staff from all three campuses, Minimbah, Penbank and Senior, to celebrate community, culture and shared values. Perberkoong is a time to celebrate the diversity of traditions and values within our school, with performances, music and storytelling from students across all year levels including the Nativity story and interpretations of Bunjil's story.

Ukelele
Year 10 Product Design kids finished their Ukuleles this week, oiled, strung and ready to take home. They're all different in shape, size and colour, some classic, some modern, some with a twist - all beautiful and all functional. Thanks to the legendary teachers in Geoff's Shed, more patience than you can poke a ukulele at.

Regenerative Futures Program
The RFPs Futures Project Exhibition was held earlier this month. 'The Futures Project marks the culmination of our Year 10 Regenerative Futures Program. In this final phase, students are mentored to imagine, design, test and activate regenerative responses to real-world challenges,' says Michelle Pitcher, Head of Regenerative Futures Program
And they did. It was a big night for everyone, as students had to confidently and clearly articulate their year's learning. Read more below.

From Little Things...
Penbank’s 50th year was marked with a finale From Little Things that put a smile on everyone's face. Past, present and future, families, alumni and staff gathered to honour five decades of teaching and learning. Every year level took to the stage, nerves aplenty, and told the story of a school built over time from the people and community for whom it means so much. From the first classrooms to today’s beautiful campus. The night was filled with music, stories, hilarious cows, naughty chickens and so many memories. From little things, mighty things grow.
The children didn’t just retell history – they reimagined it in ways only young minds can - Andy Khoza
Until we go around the grounds again, next week...
