Dear Year 9 Parents and Guardians,

Re: City Bound 2025 – Wednesday 23 April – Friday 2 May, with the exception of Anzac Day (Fri 25 April)

City Bound & the MYP Community Project

All Year 9s undertake a Community Project of their choice over a 6-month period, with a minimum of 15 hours during school, but independent work is also encouraged and appreciated. Students begin their project at City Bound, where they are introduced to stories from a wide range of communities, helping them to identify their passions and the range of ways in which support can be provided. They then have a number of sessions on return to school during Terms 2 and 3 to work on their projects, culminating in the presentation and assessment of their project at the start of Term 4. Students can work alone, in pairs or in groups of 3.

Next Steps

  • Complete the Operoo Form

Please check your email to access the Operoo Form that will ask for your child’s plans during City Bound.  You will need to disclose whether your child will be staying in the City with friends or family, or commuting each day with Woodleigh staff.  Please complete the Operoo Form with as much detail as possible to assist us in managing each student’s whereabouts during these 7 days. The Operoo Form will include a link to the City Bound Information booklet including FAQs that may assist you in your planning.

  • View Recording – City Bound Parent Information Session

Please click here to access a pre-recorded City Bound Information session to view at your leisure.

We recommend that any questions that you may have after viewing this recording be directed to [email protected] and a member of the City Bound Team will respond.

  • View the City Bound Booklet

Please click here  to view the City Bound Information Booklet which includes information for parents and students on what to expect with the City Bound Project.

Please note the checklist towards the back of the booklet to assist with what to take with you in to the City each day and feel free to add or remove items to make this easier for you.

  • City Bound Preparation Day 3rd of April – At School

Thursday the 3rd of April periods 1-3 will include a visit from City Cite, the Team who will run the City Bound Program in the City.  The students will be able to ask any questions that they may have and listen to a briefing on the facilities at the City Cite on Flinders Street and what is expected of them during the 7 days.

We are excited by the growth seen during City Bound in previous years, and by what we are already seeing in these early stages of the MYP Community Projects. Thank you in advance for your continued support with this important milestone in the Woodleigh journey of these young adults.
