Year 6 at Penbank

I will try to help people when they need it, always respect people’s boundaries, make sure everyone is doing the right thing when I can, always hear what people have to say, support my classmates, try to be openminded and of course be kind.
— Coco, 6C
Leading with kindness is very important in Year 6 because now we are leaders of the school. We are role models which means that all the students are going to do what we Year Sixers do! If we’re kind, then lots of the kids will want to be like us and be kind too.
— Thomas, 6C
Leading with kindness means being caring and principled and being consistently kind and helpful. I put myself in others’ shoes and think about how they would feel if I was rude and how they would feel if I was just kind naturally. I think it is especially important to be kind to each other in Year 6 because we are going to high school soon and that can be tricky for people. To lead with kindness is to be open minded, caring, inclusive and supportive.
— Mac, 6M
Our big idea this year is to lead with kindness. We can do this through our words and actions. An example that I thought of is if I do the wrong thing at lunchtime, others might want to do that too. They’ll think it is ok when it’s not. I think that being a kind leader to other people is to lead by example and do the right thing.
— Hudson, 6M
In my life I have people who lead with kindness. My Grandma treats everyone with respect and even if she’s never met people before, she puts them before herself. My mum is another person who is fair and kind. If someone does the wrong thing, she’ll speak to us nicely and make us feel that we can make it better without just being yelled at and told off. I think that people who lead with kindness try to see the best in people and treat them the best way they can.
