Woodleigh Junior Campus Mobile Phone Policy (Starting Term 1, 2025)
In line with the Senior Campus Policy on Mobile Phones and smart devices, please be aware of the protocols that will be exercised from the beginning of Term 1 2025. In general terms, mobile phones should not be brought to school. Internet-enabled smart devices should not be worn.
When and Where:
• From the moment students enter the school gates until they leave, mobile phones must be turned off and handed into Reception. They will be stored in locked boxes for the day.
• Phones cannot be used during recess, lunch, other breaks, or after-school activities.
• Phones must be collected from Reception at the end of the day.
What Happens if the Policy is Broken?
• If a student does not hand in their phone and uses it during the school day, they are breaking the rules.
First Time The phone will be taken away and kept in Reception until 3:40 pm (3:10pm on Wednesday). A leadership team member will return it at the end of the day.
Second Time Parents will need to come to Reception to collect the phone.
Third Time Parents must come to school to collect the phone and the student.
Parent Support:
• This new 'Gate-to-Gate' rule is important for our students' wellbeing. We ask parents to support this policy and discuss it at home. Consider having some phone-free time during the holidays to help ease into the change.
Practical Tips for Parents:
• Emergency communication protocols will be shared regularly for clarity and peace of mind.
• Consistency and clarity are key to this transition.
• If you have any questions, please email the Head of Campus.
Communicating with Your Child:
• Urgent messages can be sent through to Reception as is current practice.
