Dear Minimbah Families,
I wanted to extend my thanks to the Minimbah Community for so enthusiastically embracing our zoom disco recently. It was beautiful to see all the costumes and wild lighting effects. It certainly lifted my spirits, and I hope it raised yours. DJ - R. Dizzle was very impressed by the incredible dance moves, the air guitars, the level of family participation, and the infectious enthusiasm. Our winner of the chocolate cottage for family energy went to the Youngs family. Darren, Amanda, Lara and Dominic certainly had the moves and danced the night away together. Congratulations!
These are challenging times, and last week's announcements of lockdown extension tested our resolve. We all need to dig deep at times like these and support one another as we all can. Remember to be kind and caring and practise being grateful for even the most minor wins each day. Last Tuesday, our staff participated in a wellness session with our partner, The Resilience Project. The session focussed on developing skills to support self-care, especially during such stressful times. Our teachers do a fantastic job and work incredibly long hours planning, preparing, teaching, and providing support and feedback to their classes. Their wellbeing at these times is paramount too, so they can be the best they can be for your children.
I thought it would be beneficial to share a clip of the founder of The Resilience Project, Hugh van Cuylenburg appearing on Channel 10's 'The Project' recently. Hugh discusses strategies to support our mental health during this difficult time.
In addition to The Resilience Project mentioned above, I'd like to point you in the direction of several online resources. The School has recently refreshed the Wellbeing page on the Continuous Learning website. Alongside some popular resources, we've now included a range of new resources for topics such as managing lockdown fatigue, coping with stress and supporting students with autism. Here is the link https://www.wscontinuouslearni...
Further resources will be added to the website in the coming days, including more student-facing content and advice for supporting learning at home. I hope you find them supportive at this time.
Join us for our Gratitude Assembly on Thursday 26 August at 9.00am
We’ve had on-site school postponed, we have missed out on excursions and activities but our Year 6 and Year 5 students did manage to spread their wings on their respective study tours to Canberra and Sovereign Hill and we want to share the gratitude. Please join us for what will be a very special assembly as we practise being grateful and have a little fun along the way!
