It’s All About Learning...
The International Baccalaureate is the school’s curriculum from Early Learning to Year 9. At Minimbah and Penbank the PYP (Primary Years Program) for children aged 3-12 nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. Through this inquiry-led, trans-disciplinary/integrated framework, the PYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.
Across the year, you will learn about the focuses and themes that include many powerful and enriching experiences. Woodleigh’s Five Elements underpin our approaches to teaching and learning. Valuing a personalised learning environment, these Five Elements fully support the development of skills, understandings and personal competencies. At its heart, this model aims to help the school develop an in-depth understanding of each learner’s needs, in order to provide sustained, relevant and appropriately challenging opportunities to support students in their holistic development.
Some upcoming events that support learning include camps to Wilsons Prom (Year 5) and Philip Island (Year 3 & 4) and swimming competitions. In conjunction with Cultural Diversity Week, we conclude the term with our Harmony Day School Picnic – a fabulous event for families and friends of all age groups. We also invite all parents to participate in the Parent Education series held across the year at the Senior Campus. The first of the series is with Dr Helen Scott who will speak with parents about, ‘Helping Young People to Flourish at and beyond school’ and ‘Contextual Wellbeing’.
