Book Week Wrap Up from the Library

Book Week went off with a bang this year, after 2 years of an online version, we were all very happy to be back in the land of stories, celebrating this much-loved event face to face!

Our students from The Hive to Year 6 participated in a range of incursions with local author Patrick Guest, who shared his latest book, Beaver and the Beast and gave us an exclusive reading of his newly awaited Yay/Boo book! We had a writers’ workshop with author extraordinaire Danielle Binks, as she cavitated students’ interests and shared the secret to storytelling. The hall was transformed to a blacked-out theatre as we watched Dreamer in the Deep, a story told through puppets, light and music: a much loved event!

The library was busy each lunchtime with mask making, bookmark creations, puppet play, and a delayed book character hunt around the school: a special thanks to the older students for their assistance with some of our younger children.

But Book Week wouldn’t be Book Week without the memorable assembly and fabulous dress-up day! Mr Davies and the staff did not disappoint with their comical retelling of Busting by Aaron Blabey. There were amazing costumes celebrating much-loved characters from Harry Potter to The Witches to Thing 1 & Thing 2 and of course Where’s Wally?

A huge thank you to the PFG for a generous Farrells Bookshop voucher that was drawn at random for each class.
