Debating and Public Speaking
Use your voice! There were some wins, losses and forfeits across the debating evening hosted at Peninsula Grammar last week. Xavier of Year 8 was awarded Best Speaker on the night, but everyone outdid themselves. It's not an easy feat and at such a high level extremely challenging. Woodleigh debaters know what they're doing - encouraging students to find their voice is working!

The SIS Public Speaking competition yesterday was another success, while Woodleigh wasn't the winning team overall, Isaac of Year 9 won best speaker on the day.
Hattah Returns
Two busloads of unshowered teens pulled into the Woodleigh turning circle late last night and tipped them out into the cold. They were sent home to wash, sleep and eat. Hattah is the pinnacle of the outdoor education program at Woodleigh. It's challenging and amazing. All the stories of the rite of passage that is Hattah will come to us next week and we will SHARE!
Mother's Day
Mother's Day is Sunday. Tell all the women you love, those who have inspired you, laughed with you, hugged you and taught you to brush your teeth that you love them because any mum will tell you, tooth-brushing battles are the least fun part of mothering. Penbank celebrated with a breakfast this week, and Minimbah will celebrate with theirs next week!

Citybound
Citybound is about empathy, open-mindedness and respect for the varied and valuable lives of others. It also leads to the MYP Community project that students undertake for the remainder of the year, encouraging them to learn from experience, understanding and different community groups - and not accidentally getting on the 86 tram.

“I think the time organisation was very good. I learned how to navigate the city, which I never thought I would be able to do.”
“Tony was my favourite speaker. His story was really powerful and engaging. I can identify with the feelings he shared.”
