Dear Minimbah families,
Today we welcome our Year 5 students back to Minimbah after an action-packed week exploring and engaging with Country whilst camping at Wilsons Promontory. Earlier this week, I asked the students to reflect on their experience through the lens of the Woodleigh 3Rs.
Think about how you demonstrated, developed or considered; respect for self, respect for others and respect for the environment this week. A selection of their responses is shared below.
I learnt that feeding animals is bad because it can give them different behaviour.

Cleaning up is important to the world because if you just leave the rubbish it won't dissolve for a long time and animals could choke on it and lose their hunting skills.
Jesse
We were in tents outdoors so we had to be organised and it made us keep things clean not messy. We developed a lot of independence.
Violet
When I was at the movies, there were wombats crawling under the chairs. I was just patting them carefully. On the beach, I respected the crabs and the plants.
Zade
I always included people as I never want people to feel left out.
Avery
You don't always have to play with your friends to have fun.

Jack Bowman, a talented Year 4 student brings creativity to everything he does. Jack has been interested in photography for a little while now and on whilst a family trip to New Zealand, he took some amazing photos of which he was very proud.
Recently, Jack entered seven of his photos in the Berwick Show Junior (10 and under) Photography Competition.
His images ended up winning:
3 x First Place
2 x Second place
2 x Third place awards....yep, every image won a ribbon :-)
One of his images won the Best Exhibit across all categories!
Please enjoy the photos of Jack’s great work.
Recently, Penelope competed in the 2025 Life Saving Victoria Junior State Championships. Alongside four close friends from the Point Leo Surf Life Saving Club, Penelope excelled in multiple events. She won the Under 9’s Flag Race, placed 3rd in the Under 9’s individual Board, and, with two friends, clinched victory in the Under 9’s Board Relay. Over the three-day event, Penelope demonstrated incredible determination, focus, and team spirit, while also forming wonderful friendships with participants from other clubs.
Congratulations to all!
Have an incredible week
