Woodleigh has been working in partnership with Family Zone over the past several years with the aim of providing cybersafety solutions to our community. If you have not heard of Family Zone, it is best described as a suite of tools that support parents and the school in guiding young people as they engage with the online world.
We are most excited that the updated Family Zone / Woodleigh Cyber Safety Hub has just been released. It is an excellent resource for parents as it provides advice on contemporary issues, such as dealing with online impersonation, gaming, online relationships and even digital tantrums. Current ‘Hot Topics’ available on the Cyber Safety Hub include TikTok, Instagram Reels and Roblox. There are also sections of the site dedicated to Cyber Safety Tech and ‘App and Game’ Reviews. We encourage all parents to review the Family Zone / Woodleigh Cyber Safety Hub.
A further tool in the Family Zone suite is the Family Zone app. Best described as parent control software, the app provides parents with the capacity to better manage their child’s computer when they are off the school network. This includes managing what their child can access on the web and when they can access it, including a ‘switch off’ time at night. Safe searching, restrictions on social media and streaming services are also part of the Family Zone premium solution. Please click here to view the Introduction to Family Zone Premium video.
Whilst the school provides all families with free access to a Family Zone premium account, it is entirely a parent decision to utilise the software or not. If you are not currently using Family Zone and would like to know more about how it operates, this link will take you to the relevant section of the Cyber Safety Hub.
If you would like a Family Zone account activated, please contact email@example.com. We will then setup an account and ensure the app is installed on your child’s computer.
It is important to note that when your account is live, default age-based filtering (as set by Family Zone) will become active on your child’s computer when it is off the school network. At these times, you are the administrator of the account and can adjust the default settings as required. The Family Zone management structure means that the school has no ability to adjust or manage the account when the computer is off the school network.
Family Zone provides strong support for their product through their website and contact services. This includes live chat, the option to book an in-person telephone call via their call back service and direct email support. They also provide a self-help/FAQ area. Family Zone support is available 8am to 8pm AEST and can be accessed via this link.
We trust that you find the Family Zone products a valuable resource for your family.
