Happy Friday, Woodleigh.

I am proud of what we have achieved as a community this term and I want to acknowledge that this doesn’t happen without the support of our families and staff. Enjoy a well-deserved break and I look forward to seeing you all back onsite in Term 4.

Maths Maths Maths Maths

Year 7 students have been busy proving that mathematics is more than numbers on a page. Over the past few weeks, maths has become their lens for exploring the world and unpacking and demonstrating the mechanics of sport, finance, inequality, music and so much more.

Tuesday night was the Maths Expo, and the projects on display were as diverse as they were insightful. Students have spent Term 3 investigating their chosen topic and presenting their findings - reminding us that maths is everywhere, it’s essential, powerful, and understanding it matters.

To See
Resistance (without Violence), Chloe Year 8

This term, our Year 8 students have been exploring the themes of Conformity, Resistance and Change in Language and Literature. We’re thrilled to share a video created and narrated by Chloe, which beautifully captures the spirit of Resistance through her own thoughtful lens.

Chloe's video is a must-see, especially in light of the current political climate. Her work is a testament to the critical thinking and bold voices we’re seeing every day in our classrooms. Well done, Chloe.

Woodleigh's Intermediate Debaters win Finals at SIS

For the affirmative: Connor, Rufus and Isaac.
"Journalists should not be allowed to report on court cases until a verdict is reached."

No matter how you slice it, this is a juicy one. The adjudicator on the day praised the well-reasoned arguments and confident delivery demonstrated, and the best speaker was Woodleigh’s Isaac Russo. Congratulations, team. The Woodleigh Intermediate debaters won the SIS Finals - thank you to Marney Pope for producing such outstanding debaters at Woodleigh, year after year.

Drama Solos

A run-through for the parents. Our incredibly talented VCE drama students performed their solos this week, a practice run before they are officially judged and scored. It could be argued, though, that the more pressure-filled scenario of the two is an audience of adoring parents.

Snow Sports

Fierce competitors and bloody good people.

Special congratulations to Joe and Essie, who came in 1st and 2nd place in Moguls in Victoria and went on to compete at the national level with the same results. Their medals are shiny, but their sportsmanship, shinier. Other brilliant results in alpine GS, ski cross, snowboard cross, snowboard GS, snowboard slopestyle and ski slopestyle. Beyond results, we celebrated everyone - whether it was sharing expertise, caring and cheering on teammates or picking up litter without being asked (Freddie, looking at you). Thank you to our dream team, Flynn Higgins, Bill Higgins and Ben Davenport. Bill, in particular, has been the quiet motor behind years of success and joy. Here’s to a fantastic season all around.

Earlier this year, Nadia placed as Reserve Champion in Senior Novice Dressage at the Interschool State Championships at Boneo Park. She and her horse, JJ De Jeu, were then selected for the Victorian team. Next Wednesday, they head to the National Interschool Equestrian Championships in Sydney. Good luck, Nadia and JJ - can't wait to hear how you both go.
