Around the Grounds

Bush Week at Senior Campus
It was Bush Week at Woodleigh this week. Trees were planted near and far, at Woodleigh and the Briars. Students have planted trees around Senior Campus since the 80s. Established areas of bushland are one of the legacies left by past students.
A particular highlight this year was Year 7s and Year 12s working together, though we're not sure who was mentoring whom.

Pathways 2025: Careers Expo
An evening dedicated to inspiring the many Year 9-12 students whose VCE and tertiary roadmaps aren't yet carved in stone.
It's always on a cold May night, but the fire was on and families came out in force. A great success all round.

Grandparents Day
It was one of those perfect, crisp but sunny mornings that meant Minimbah Campus was glowing for Grandparents' Day.
Our gracious young hosts were campus guides before they sang to their adoring audience. Lots of laughter, lots of memories, lots of cups of tea. Thank you to everyone who was there; it was another beautiful celebration.

IDAHOBIT
This year’s theme, “The Power of Communities,” highlighted the strength that comes from unity and inclusion. At Woodleigh, we proudly affirm a simple but powerful message; everyone belongs. Every person deserves to feel safe, respected and loved for who they are. - Andy Khoza, Head of Penbank

Camp Jungai
Minimbah's 3s and 4s went to Rubicon Valley, and - well, just watch. It's worth it.
Young Change Makers
At just 10 years old, Avery is breaking barriers and making waves as the newest - and youngest - member of the Mornington Peninsula Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), a group typically reserved for youth aged 12 to 25. Her passion for community and her heartfelt mission - “Helping people is my heart” – shone brightly during the interview process, earning her a well-deserved place in the group.
Through active engagement, students like Avery develop a 'sense of belonging and attachment to both local and global communities. They begin to understand the interconnectedness and interdependence of issues and learn to consider them from multiple, diverse, and divergent perspectives. ' - Kate Bird, Head of Minimbah Campus

Year 6 in Canberra
Minimbah and Penbank's Year 6s have spent a week each in Canberra exploring our nation's capital. Every year, this trip sparks thoughtful questions and genuine curiosity among the students.
Our students approached each experience with respect, enthusiasm and a spirit of inquiry. In the moments of downtime, their energy, humour and joy added to the overall sense of connection and fun – there truly is nothing like the enthusiasm of children to make these experiences unforgettable - Andy Khoza, Head of Penbank

Wugubank
On Thursday, we welcomed our friends from Wugularr School, NT. We are thrilled to have the Wugubank program taking place during Reconciliation Week, an inspiring example of genuine reconciliation in action. We will share regular updates as the week progresses.

Year 12 Drama Performance: A Play within a Play
Focusing on residents of a rural community, members of a small town enter a play competition to win and entice tourism back to their town.
Set against a backdrop of challenging drought conditions, this touching and comic work is suitable for all ages. Year 12 Drama students performed to friends and family, and they knocked it out of the park – so did you, Carey!
