Sock collection for Melbourne's homeless people – a Courage Creates Change student initiative
Foot Health is a Major Issue for Homeless Australians, and it’s Easy to Make a Difference
One of the most needed items for homeless people is clean, decent quality (wool or cotton) socks.
People who are homeless usually have only their feet for transport. Often they have only one pair of socks – through rain, hail or shine.
Can you donate a pair of new decent quality socks, please?
Next time you’re shopping please buy a pair of men’s, women’s or children’s socks for our sock collection for Footscape – a charity that cares for the feet of Melbourne’s homeless people.
Sock collection day is Wednesday 30 October 2019
(There will be a basket in the school offices for a few days afterwards in case you forget on the day!)
Please make sure any socks you donate are good quality socks – new (for hygiene reasons) not too thin, and not too synthetic, or they are not useful in maintaining good foot health.
Any adult size is fine, so long as they are brand new and preferably mostly natural fibre.
The socks will be distributed through Footscape, a registered charity providing foot care health to homeless and disadvantaged people in Victoria.
This charity initiative is part of the Courage Creates Change Program for Woodleigh.
The project is created and managed by Bodhi Rylatt, Homestead 4.
