As part of the Broadening Horizons experiences at the end of the year, a small group of senior students have the opportunity to travel to Cambodia to experience its vibrant culture and to work alongside teachers at the Chumkriel Language School with the delivery of English lessons. Our relationship with Chumkriel was established 15 years ago! Being English ‘mother tongue’ speakers, our students and their participation at the school is highly valued by their staff and students.
As part of the planning for this, we collectively raise funds to support the implementation of our program, to buy classroom materials, photocopy paper, a portable PA system, student bicycles, payment for staff to attend Professional Development conferences, teacher salaries, and a whole lot more!
Our main fundraising event is Cambodia Night, which this year will be held on Friday 15th November. This is a wonderful night where the talented music students perform in a variety of bands. The audience can sit back, have something to eat and drink whilst enjoying the performances.
Tickets will be on sale soon and we urge you to come along!
To help generate funds, we aim to have a raffle and a ‘silent’ auction at this event.
We are asking our very generous and supportive community for donations to the raffle or auction. These can be vouchers for services (eg: movies), gift cards (eg:iTunes) or physical items, big or small (plants, jewellery, alcohol, books, beauty and haircare, etc) that could be used to create a hamper, etc.
If you are willing and able to make a donation to help us raise funds for Chumkriel, please leave items at reception or email me to organise collection: [email protected]
