This semester, music has taken a different turn to the usual program, with students showing they can be resilient and creative music makers throughout difficult circumstances. Despite the lack of performances and events, Penbank students have shown strength through adversity, producing high-quality work throughout both Term 1 and the Continuous Learning Plan.
Students from Prep to Year 6 have been exploring the elements of music, investigating rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and tempo, and have shown exceptional creativity, mainly through the Waterglass Challenge activity. It has been fantastic to see students singing along to School Meeting songs, showing that we can still gather as a community through music, even if we are physically distanced.
Esther has enjoyed the very unusual start to her Penbank journey and has thoroughly loved getting to know her Year 3–6 classes. Now with students coming back to Penbank, instrumental teachers are very excited to begin teaching their ensembles and individual students on campus. The distance makes us all appreciate the valuable times we share while making music!
Have a wonderful, relaxing holiday!
