Woodleigh School is seeking a part time (0.4 FTE) Primary Music Teacher at our Penbank Campus in Moorooduc.

The role of the appointed Primary Music Teacher will be to join a dynamic teaching group at our Penbank Campus. The Primary Music Teacher encourages students to develop creatively as cultured citizens of the world. The position is part time, 0.4 FTE, commencing term 1 2020.
Key responsibilities include:
Teaching Music responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Music classroom environment reflects the essential elements of the PYP curriculum and promotes a safe and engaging place of learning and discovery
- Support the wider Woodleigh Music Programming, including concerts and performances, productions and assemblies.
- Support to integration of Music into the units of inquiry (PYP).
- Be an advocate for and promote Music and The Arts within the wider Woodleigh community.
- Employ a range of effective teaching strategies to successfully implement the curriculum.
- Differentiate the curriculum to ensure individual needs of students in classes are met.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of curriculum within the Music department.
- Reflect and assess on the effectiveness teaching.
- Embed a range of assessment practices appropriate to the classroom program.
- Monitor each student and provide meaningful feedback.
- Clearly articulate task requirements so each student can participate to the best of their ability
- Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues and parents concerning student progress.
- Write formal academic reports aligned to the Woodleigh Reporting Style Guide.
- Keep accurate records of communications regarding student progress
- Demonstrate a commitment to the use of ICT activities in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning.
- Use a variety of meaningful ICT experiences in classroom practice.
- Demonstrate a continued development of ICT training as required.
- Work within the guidelines of the Woodleigh ICT policy
- Promote an engaging environment of dynamic, inquiry learning.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the Penbank Music Centre and monitor spaces and equipment.
Assessment and Reporting:
- Create a positive environment where every student has the opportunity to learn
- Undertake teaching from years 3-6.
- Undertake other duties as required and which are relevant to the position, as directed by the Head of Campus.
- Continually improve professional knowledge and practice, working within the PYP and Victorian Curriculum frameworks
- Keep up to date with Australian and International Baccalaureate curriculum and resource development in Music.
- Set personal goals and in the area of professional learning and participate in the professional development processes used by Woodleigh.
- Maintain relationships with professional colleagues and associations

- A passion for choral and/or ensemble directing
- Knowledge of the PYP and Victorian Curriculum
- Well-developed ICT skills
- A high level of musical/instrumental proficiency

- Ability to model the attributes of a life-long learner
Education and Qualifications:
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Education is preferred
- Professional experience in the music industry.
- Be committed to working on continuing to develop skills as a musician and music educator.
- Experience in designing, implementing and assessing effective curriculum.
- Experience in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme and inquiry learning.
- Experienced Kodaly and Orff Schulwerk practitioner.
- A knowledge of and experience with current educational trends in Arts education.
- A knowledge of and experience with the application of ICT in education.
- Piano accompaniment skills
- Expertise with experiential, project based and problem-based learning approaches.
Conditions of Employment:
- A VIT Registration is preferred for this position
- Qualification and First Aid Training confirmation is required for this position.
