Goodness Me Market

Year 5 Penbank students have been exploring Intentional Structures Build Ethical Organisations, bringing together ideas from multiple subjects under the theme How We Organise Ourselves. 

They have focused on ethics and sustainability, as well as the ways organisational structures influence decision-making. Through their lines of inquiry, they’ve examined how democratic systems operate, how choices impact communities and the environment, and how collaboration can lead to more responsible outcomes.

Some groups repurposed materials, reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Others focused on ethical sourcing, selecting ingredients and materials that align with their values. This market is not only a showcase of entrepreneurial spirit but a powerful reflection of our students’ growing understanding of the way thoughtful decision-making can shape a better world.

Future Council

Future Council is a film that has been described as School of Rock meets An Inconvenient Truth. Australian actor, director and producer Damon Gameau says it is more than a film; it is a student-led movement that inspires and empowers young people to take the lead.  As Director, he invites eight passionate, curious and very funny children on an epic adventure across Europe in a school bus. Their mission is to better understand the planet’s predicament, explore solutions and most importantly, take the conversation from the streets into the boardrooms of some of the world’s most influential companies.
The very first screening in the world was shown to our Year 5 and 6 students at both Junior Campuses.

Student voice and feedback were the aim, and according to the adults in the room, nearly every student had a hand in the air with questions and comments. 

Salvation Army

Over 90% of people supported by the Salvation Army on the Mornington Peninsula have experienced food insecurity, and more than half of parents have skipped meals so their children could eat. The Salvation Army’s Doorways program provides vital support through food hampers and community meals, helping thousands of families each year. But the shelves are bare. A group of students collected food and took it to Somerville's Salvation Army.
