Subjects studied are divided into two groups:

• compulsory or core subjects
  
• electives which are selected by the students
  

In keeping with our notion of a 'V' curriculum, the balance between core subjects and electives changes as students progress through the school. At Years 7 and 8, students take only 1 elective with all the remaining subjects being compulsory. Up until Year 10, subjects are designed to provide a broad general education. Classes are conducted within an 80-minute timeframe. The range of subjects offered and the allocation of time to individual subjects is consistent with the requirements of the Curriculum Standards Framework developed for use across Victorian schools.
